DIY Taxidermy is a natural money-making addition to your hunting and fishing habits. Most hunters and fishermen spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars every year on equipment just to go out and get those trophies. These guys and gals don't mind spending the money, they enjoy it! They also love to show off their latest prize. That means they've gotta spend even more money with the taxidermist and it's not cheap.

I'll tell ya, a life-size big game mount will set you back anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000 depending on the animal. Fish mounting isn't cheap either. Most taxidermists charge up to $8 per inch of fish. A truly trophy worthy fish can easily add up to hundreds of dollars. Those prices don't even include the money it takes to buy the hunting & fishing equipment, licenses, trips and meat processing.

If you're like these people, you spend your fair share on hunting and fishing and taxidermy services each season too. Home taxidermy can provide you with the money to fund your hunting and fishing trips, the equipment and get your prizes mounted to boot. With just a few clients, you can fund your entire year of hunting, fishing and trophy mounts without taking away from the family funds and you can put some money in your pocket too. It really doesn't get any better than that.

It's really quite easy to get started in home taxidermy and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. You'll be amazed at all the taxidermy projects you can do. The setup can be minimal and the possibilities are endless. It's also an excellent way to keep busy and make money during the off-seasons.

DIY Taxidermy doesn't take a lot of space. In fact, you can do a large variety of taxidermy projects with a small setup. You can do your own taxidermy in the garage, your buddies barn, heck, even a large shed will do. You've just got to have enough room to work with the size animal, birds or fish that you're mounting.

You wont need to invest in a bunch of expensive equipment either. Most of the items you truly need are small and inexpensive. Some good sharp knives, chisels, saws, a screwdriver and hammer will get you started. You've probably got some of what you need in your toolboxes already. A heavy duty work bench or two, some lighting and a couple of sturdy tables will easily complete your first taxidermy shop.

In DIY Taxidermy, arsenic or some non-poisonous way to preserve the fur or feathers is used. This stuff can be bought online or at some sporting goods retailers or even made yourself. It's very important that these chemicals are stored safely and securely. Some high cupboards or a locking cabinet will do the trick.

Once you set up your taxidermy shop, you're ready to start mounting your own trophies and making some money mounting trophies for other people. The advantage for you, as a hunter, is that you can start the process nearly immediately after harvesting your prey. You'll get a better quality, fresher looking mount for a fraction of the price and a heck of a lot faster too.

Most taxidermists take on so many clients during the height of hunting season that they have waiting lists 8 to 10 months long. They have to freeze any specimens that are brought in until they have time to get to them. Although it's still a thrill to get that mount nearly a year later, imagine the thrill of getting your mount in a couple of weeks instead. You can do that for yourself and for other people.

With a small setup and just a few clients to begin with, you can beat the bigger taxidermist outfits in price and turnaround time. Impatient, penny pinching hunters will come to you first and they'll come back time and time again.

Just about any kind of animal or bird can be made up into a taxidermy mount. You can offer fish, bird, small animal, big game, trophy head, feet, antler and horn mounting. Every hunting or fishing season, there's a different possibility for making money with taxidermy. There's always a hunter or fisherman that wants to show off his latest best.

Rogue taxidermy is another fun way to make money. People love strange and unusual items both to give as gifts and to display in their homes and offices. You've no doubt heard of the Jack-O-Lope. It's nothing more than a mounted rabbit head with antlers or horns on top. These quirky projects can easily bring between $50 & $75 per. That's nothing to sneeze at. Do a few of these and you'll see that it's a fast, easy way to put some money in the bank. Consider small reptiles for this purpose too they make excellent subjects and can be posed in many interesting and unusual ways.

DIY Taxidermy is a natural addition to your hunting and fishing habits. It gives you another chance to show people what a great sportsman you are. And, it'll give you the opportunity to show off your artistic talents too. It'll keep you busy during the off-seasons and help you make some extra cash too.

Hunters stick together and you know that once your buddies find out you can do their taxidermy mounts, they'll come to you. They'll also tell their buddies about you and that can lead to a very profitable home taxidermy business for you.
